9 April, 2020

Alu Cab tent in the wild

Hard-shell design

The Alu-Cab Expedition Tent is a hard-shell design, making it far easier to set up than soft-cover tents.

Bedding can be left inside

Bedding can be left inside the tent on top of the extremely comfortable 75mm high-density foam mattress.

Utilise the top of the tent

While travelling, you can utilise the top of the tent with additional load bars to carry bikes, kayaks or to install handy items such as solar panels.

Who are rooftop tents for?

Rooftop tents are for anybody looking to experience more of our great country via 4WD.

What are the benefits?

There are many benefits, such as more room in your vehicle now that your tent and bedding are on the roof; no towing required, making it a much easier trip for the driver; quick and easy setup/pack up time so you can spend more time on your recreational activities. It’s also a great way to avoid the various creepy-crawlies in the Australian bush!

What are the main advantages of the Alu-Cab over other rooftop tents?

The Alu-Cab Expedition Tent is a hard-shell design, making it far easier to set up than soft-cover tents. In fact, it takes mere seconds to both set up and pack up the tent! A Gas-Strut design does most of the work when opening, with a handy strap to pull the tent back down. Bedding can be left inside the tent on top of the extremely comfortable 75mm high-density foam mattress. While travelling, you can utilise the top of the tent with additional load bars to carry bikes, kayaks or to install handy items such as solar panels.

The Expedition Tent is more than your typical rooftop tent – it’s the central hub of your camping experience.

Are there any accessories for the tent?

There are many accessories to enhance your camping set up, such as the 270-degree awning that attaches directly to the side of the Alu-Cab. Again, this takes just seconds to set up and requires no pole support in normal conditions. But if it’s extra windy there are pole supports available. There is also an awning tent option to provide an enclosed area – so the kids also have their own camping space too!

How is the product installed?

As with most rooftop tents, a roof-rack with a flat platform is the best way to install where possible. For some dual-cab vehicles Alu-Cab has a custom-built Canopy Camper option, optimising the space and storage capacity of your car. And if you are the owner of a classic Landcruiser “Troopy” or Landrover Defender your entire roof can be replaced with the Expedition Tent!

How much does it cost?

The Expedition Tent starts at $5,600. For further pricing and information on the Alu-Cab range please get in touch with us!
